This season we are looking back at the long hot summer of 1976 when the club finished as runners up in both league and cup to Rawtenstall and also the less successful season of 1996 when the club finished bottom for the third season running in it's 150th year with Chad Grainger as professional.
Rawtenstall made history by winning the double for the first time in after wrapping up their first league title win in 50 years by beating Nelson who denied Rawtenstall the bonus point but in the end it made no difference because Accrington failed to pick up 5 points at Colne to force a play off on Sunday September 12th 1976.
Bottom club Accrington ended the season with a much needed 5 wicket win at Burnley on Sunday September 8th 1996.
