This weeks teams

This season we are looking back at the long hot summer of 1976 when the club finished as runners up in both league and cup to Rawtenstall and also the less successful season of 1996 when the club finished bottom for the third season running in it's 150th year with Chad Grainger as professional.

The first weekend in June saw champions Accrington pick up maximum points from a double header.

Accrington won for only the second time in seven matches beating Rawtenstall by 5 wickets at Bacup Road on Saturday June 5th 1976.

Alan Worsick took 8-48 to bowl champions Accrington to a 45 run victory over Enfield at Thorneyholme Road on Sunday June 6th 1976.

David Ormerod took 5-41 and professional Roger Harper picked up 4-21 to help Bacup to a third win of the season against bottom club Accrington on Saturday June 8th 1996.

Professional Franklyn Rose took a league best 7-56 to condemn bottom club Accrington to a second defeat of the weekend this time by 6 wickets at Enfield on Sunday June 9th 1996.
