The club is saddened to announce the passing of Life Member and Trustee Peter Westwell at the age of 96.
A former club Chairman, Committee Man and League Representative, Peter was also a former Lancashire League Chairman from 1990-1999 after two years as Deputy Chairman and a Life Member of the league.
A keen footballer in his playing days, Peter captained Accrington 3rd XI from 1960-1972, leading the team to promotion to the Accrington League Division 1 in 1961 and to the North East Lancs League Division 2 title in 1964.
Accrington President Duncan Warburton said: "I first met Peter on joining the Club in 1973 so he has been part of my cricket life for over 50 years.
"He played a massive part in my cricket development and was always around to talk when advice was needed.
"When I became League rep for Accrington he was League Chairman, a post which he undertook with great integrity, keeping the legacy of Lancashire League history at the forefront at all times.
"Cricket has lost a great servant who will be sadly missed."

Accrington Chairman Jon Hayhurst said: "The committee and I are saddened to hear of Peter's passing and we all send our deepest condolences to his family and friends. "Peter was a lifelong supporter of the club and we all have fond memories of him watching cricket and dedicating so many years to the club in various roles.
"His dedication is something to be proud of and shows the commitment he had to the club and the enjoyment that cricket brought to his life.
"Over recent years when it became difficult for Peter to attend games, members such as Phil Hodson helped Peter get down to the club to support the 1st XI, bringing much joy to Peter and to those members who knew him so well."
