The club is happy to announce that Wayne Roberts will be taking on the role of Cricket Chairman.
Since joining the Cricket Section last year to support the running of senior cricket Wayne has been a great addition to the club.
Wayne is no stranger to the club having played for Accrington from 1995 until 2001 making 86 first team appearances after beginning his career at Rishton in the 1980s.
On his return to Rishton in 2009, following a break from the game, Wayne captained the second team for three seasons before retiring in 2015.
Club Chairman Jon Hayhurst said: “The club is continuing to grow on and off the field and this role has become even more important as we look to keep improving, so to fill this role with someone with Wayne’s experience is essential to the clubs progression.
“Wayne’s focus will be to work closely with all senior captains, players, junior managers and junior players in order for them to make the step up to senior cricket. It is a key role and I’m glad Wayne has agreed to take it on.”
