Win At East Lancs Keeps Accy Second

A 6 wicket win over East Lancs at Alexandra Meadows keeps Accrington in second place in Division 2.

Simon Hanson took 4-42 with professional Amar Ullah top scoring with 49 in East Lancs 159-7 from 46 overs.

Openers Ammar Baig and Ullah put on 35 before Baig was caught behind by Emile Haratbar off Oliver Lowe for 14.

Hanson cleaned up Sohail Mohammed (14) at 73.

Two runs later sub professional Tilaksha Malshan trapped Yusuf Pardesi in front without scoring.

Ullah was caught by Graeme Sneddon off Hanson at 118.

Next to go was Ahsan Arif (7) who was caught by Malshan off Hanson at 129.

One run later Haris Saleemi (22) was caught and bowled by Hanson.

Kian Farnworth sent back Saad Ali (4) at 140 with Tabassum Aziz (18 not out) and Suhayl Patel (7 not out) both unbeaten when the innings ended.

Chasing a revised target of 167 from 46 overs, Accrington lost Sneddon (4) to Abid Hussain at 4 but stand in skipper Jonny Dack and Sam Molloy put on 69 before Molloy fell to Ali for 33 at 73.

Dack was caught by Pardesi off Ullah for 34 at 85.

Malshan and Haratbar then put on 62 for the 4th wicket before the sub professional was caught by Ali off Ullah for 42.

Haratbar (32 not out) and Hanson (15 not out) wrapped up victory with an unbroken 5th wicket stand of 20 in the 33rd over.

The seconds were beaten by 6 wickets by East Lancs at Thorneyholme Road. 

Waleed Majeed hit 25 and captain Antonio Lo-Giudice an unbeaten 18 in Accrington's 85 all out. 

Waqar Ashraf took 2-23 as East Lancs secured victory in the 21st over.

Scorecard

The thirds game against Church on Saturday ended as a no result. 

Church made 167-8 from 38 overs with Harry Cunliffe taking 3-31.

Rain prevented Accrington from batting.
