Great Harwood June 29th

Darcey Carter became the first woman to take a Lancashire League wicket when she bowled Great Harwood opener Matt Oddie in Accrington's match at The Evolve Document Solutions Cliffe Park.

Carter picked up 1-49 from 13 overs.

Ali Hasham was Accrington's most successful bowler with 3-73.

Hasham's first victim was Great Harwood professional Thikshila de Silva who was caught and bowled after hitting eight fours and two sixes in his 66.

Zain Hanif then had opener Alex Kennedy caught behind by Emile Haratbar for 45.

Kennedy and de Silva had added 100 for the 2nd wicket after the loss of Oddie at 24.

Hasham next had Caleb Greenhalgh (1) caught by Tom Braysford at 129 and 40 runs later the same combination accounted for Kasir Masood (23).

Siraj Ahmed was run out for 21 at 179 with Nathan Sheridan (4) being caught by Carter off Abbaas Ahmad at 193.

Max Cocken (11 not out) and skipper Stuart Maher (1 not out) were unbeaten when the innings closed on 194-7.

After openers Jon Hayhurst and Nathaniel Young had put on 25, Accrington lost four wickets for the addition of just one run.

De Silva trapped Hayhurst (10) in front at 25 to break the opening stand.

Next ball free scoring professional Jurie Snyman's stumps were shattered and with it went Accrington's chance of victory.

Two balls later de Silva trapped Haratbar in front without scoring.

Skipper Graeme Sneddon managed to get off the mark but he was also on his way back at 26 when he edged Joel Houldsworth behind to Sheridan.

De Silva struck another double blow at 41, cleaning up Hasham (4) and Ahmad (0).

Waleed Majeed (2) was bowled by Maher at 48 and two runs later de Silva cleaned up Hanif (1).

De Silva's seventh and final victim was Braysford (2) as the home professional hit the stumps for the fifth time to finish with 7-36.

Through all this mayhem Young stood tall at the other end.

He at last found an ally in Carter who helped the opener add 59 for the last wicket before Young was run out for 57.

He hit eight fours and a six from 68 balls before being last out.

Carter finished unbeaten on 12 with Great Harwood winning the match by 81 runs after bowling Accrington out for 113.
