Leaders Accrington stay top of Division 2 inspite of suffering a first defeat of the season at Crompton.

Chasing a revised target of 137 from 24 overs Accrington fell 11 runs short but picked up 4 batting and 2 bowling points to stay one point ahead of Rishton.

Opener Saif Bhojani top scored with 76, including eight fours and a six, in Crompton's 203 all out.

Kian Farnworth took 4-42 and skipper Jacob Clarke picked up 3-45 for Accrington.

Professional Jurie Snyman removed Will Jackson (4) at 9 with Clarke picking up Denis Louis (1) and sub professional Aubrey Swanepoel (0) at 10.

When Asif Fazal (13) also fell to the Accrington skipper Crompton were in trouble on 31-4.

Harry Dean (47) joined Bhojani to put on 79 for the 5th wicket before falling to Snyman.

Jamie King (39) and Bhojani then added 76 for the 6th wicket before Farnworth sent back King at 186 and Bhojani at 197.

Stephen Wright (0) fell to Farnworth at the same score with skipper Simon Wright (1) departing to Asad Khan at 203.

Shabnan Ali (3) fell to the same bowler at the same score to end the innings in the 42nd over.

Ali removed Graeme Sneddon (6) at 28 and Snyman (5) at 41 with Jonny Dack (17) falling to Saif Ur-Rehman at 32.

Swanepoel removed Emile Haratbar (9) at 54, Sam Molloy (16) at 74 and Farnworth (3) at 80.

Asif Fazal accounted for Ali Hasham (3) at 87 but Asad Khan (17) and Clarke (a run a ball 43 not out) earned Accrington 4 vital batting points with a stand of 38 before Khan was run out off the final ball going for a third run. 

Scorecard

The seconds beat Crompton by 29 runs in the reverse fixture at Thorneyholme Road.

Jon Hayhurst top scored with 31 in the seconds 161 all out.

Mohammad Tayyib then took 4-43 to help bowl Crompton out for 132.
