Accy Bounce Back To Top After Win Over Bacup

A 6 wicket win over Bacup at Thorneyholme Road has taken Accrington back to the top of Division 2.

Skipper Jacob Clarke took 4-41 with Luke Donovan top scoring with a career best 54, including seven fours and a six, in Bacup's 205 all out.

Clarke and his professional Jurie Snyman shared a 3rd wicket stand of 127 to set up the victory.

Clarke removed Lawrence Adlum (5), Harrison Turner (0) and Matt Collinge (3) to have Bacup 30-3.

Professional Garnett Tarr and Jack Bradford took the score to 63 when Clarke had Bradford caught behind by Emile Haratbar for 16.

Tarr was caught by Clarke off Snyman for 47 at 96.

Donovan and fourteen year-old Mason Hayhurst (25 not out) put on 54 for the 6th wicket before Donovan fell to Asad Khan.

Oliver Lowe picked up George Sumner (19) at 170 and Liam Naylor (0) at 205. Khan sent back skipper Ben Lord (29) at 204 and one run later Patrick Boardman was run out without scoring to close the innings.

Lord sent back Graeme Sneddon (19) at 34 and two runs later Bradford cleaned up Jonny Dack (13).

Clarke and Snyman then added 127 before Clarke was caught behind by Collinge off Lord for 43.

Snyman followed, bowled by Lord at 177 for 76, including nine fours and two sixes.

Haratbar hit an unbeaten 22, adding an unbroken 30 with Sam Molloy (9 not out) who hit successive boundaries off Lord to seal a maximum points win.

Accrington are now 7 points clear of Crompton and 10 clear of Nelson with five matches left to play.
