Accy Beat East Lancs To Go Clear At Top

An 8 wicket win over East Lancs at Thorneyholme Road has taken Accrington three points clear at the top of the Division 2 table.

Wicketkeeper Emile Haratbar claimed five victims (3 stumpings, 2 catches) with sub professional Tilaksha Malshan (3-22 from 15 overs), Kian Farnworth (3-26) and skipper Jacob Clarke (3-38) sharing 9 wickets to bowl East Lancs out for 149 with one ball of the innings remaining.

Openers Ammar Baig (21) and Yusuf Pardesi (19) were both stumped off Malshan at 36 and 49.

Kamran Anwar (26) and Haris Saleemi (37 not out) put on 40 before Anwar was caught and bowled by Malshan.

Noah Cronshaw's maiden Lancashire League wicket was the prized scalp of professional Ammar Ullah (3) at 100.

Clarke had Mo Bhada (8) and Tabassum Aziz (7) both caught behind at 114 and 126.

Suhayl Patel (1) was the third stumping of the innings, this time off Farnworth.

Muhammad Naveed (5) chipped Clarke to Farnworth at 140 in the 49th over with Ahsan Arif (3) and Hamid Rana (3) both falling to Farnworth in the final over of the innings to earn Accrington two vital bowling points.

A 72 run opening stand between Jonny Dack (31) and Graeme Sneddon was broken by Bhada.

Sneddon fell to Arif for 53, including eight fours, at 105.

Clarke (33 not out) and Malshan (24 not out) then secured the win in the 29th over with an unbroken 3rd wicket stand of 47.
