Weekend Preview May 18th

Accrington travel to Alexandra Meadows on Sunday to face bottom club East Lancs. 

The home side have lost all four games to date and sit with minus one point after failing to pick up any bonus points and losing a point for a slow over rate.

Accrington have nine bonus points, the second best in the division, but have only three points after losing six points prior to the start of the season due to previous disciplinary issues. 

East Lancs were beaten at Bacup last Sunday and Accrington lost at home to Greenmount.

Accrington have only one win in the last ten league meetings with East Lancs who have four wins. One match was tied and there have been four no results.

Fifteen year-old Ryan Bond makes his Lancashire League debut for Accrington in place of Asad Khan.

East Lancs also make a change with Abdul Rehman replacing Muhammad Naveed. 

Overseas amateur Hudson Walshaw will lead the team.

The match ball sponsor this weekend is Brian Williamson.

The seconds host East Lancs at The iMEP in the reverse fixture.

The thirds have no game this weekend.

This weeks teams

This season we are looking back at the historic Lancashire League championship winning season of 1975 and also the less successful season of 1995 when Colin Miller was professional.

Accrington joined defending champions Ramsbottom at the top of the table after beating Burnley by 3 wickets at Thorneyholme Road. on Saturday May 17th 1975.

Accrington professional Alan Worsick smashed eight huge sixes out of the ground in his highest score for the club to date as he and opener Graham Beech (38) put together a century stand in the visitors' 24 run win at Enfield the following day Sunday May 18th 1975.

Accrington went down to a fifth straight away defeat in all competitions, losing by 8 wickets at Haslingden on Sunday May 21st 1995.
