Weekend Preview August 9th/10th

Accrington travel to Blackburn Road to face third placed Rishton in a local derby on Saturday. 

Rishton were beaten at Bacup but Accrington beat East Lancs for the second time this season on Sunday. 

Rishton won the reverse fixture by 7 wickets.

Accrington make two changes with Abbaas Ahmad and Noah Cronshaw replacing Nathaniel Young and Jon Hayhurst. 

Rishton make a couple of changes with wicketkeeper Chris Sanderson and Richie Fox replacing Archie Kavanagh and Jack Hilton.

The seconds entertain Rishton at The iMEP Arena in the reverse fixture.

The thirds travel to Alexandra Meadows to play East Lancs on Sunday.

This season we are looking back at the historic Lancashire League championship winning season of 1975 and also the less successful season of 1995 when Colin Miller was professional.

Accrington went to the top of the table for the first time after a 6 wicket win at Lowerhouse on the day that leaders Burnley went down to a shock defeat at Nelson on Saturday August 9th 1975.

Bottom club Accrington went down to an eighth successive defeat losing to champions Nelson by 31 runs at Thorneyholme Road on Saturday August 5th 1995.
