A Bank Holiday to forget saw Accrington beaten on both days after winning their opening five fixtures in 1975. On Saturday May 24th 1975 Accrington lost for the first time going down to a last over defeat at the hands of title rivals Burnley at Turf Moor by just 2 runs.
The following day Sunday May 25th 1975 Accrington lost for the second time in successive days as their title hopes took a major blow with a 6 wicket home defeat to local rivals Enfield.
Professional Colin Miller hit 89 and skipper Mark Aspin 53 but Accrington went down to a first home defeat of the season losing to Lowerhouse on run rate by 5 wickets on Saturday May 27th 1995.
